Dr. Ihor Kuryliak

Short Biography

Ihor Kuryliak (PhD, University of Zurich) is a Ukrainian Protestant theologian and scholar specializing in the Hebrew Bible. Currently, Ihor is a Research Associate at the University of Zurich, a Senior Lecturer in Old Testament at the Ukrainian Institute of Arts and Sciences (Ukraine).

In 2025, Ihor completed his PhD at the University of Zurich under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Konrad Schmid and Prof. Dr. Tobias Jammerthal. His doctoral dissertation, titled “Temporal Dimension of the Book of Daniel: Reception History in Ancient Christianity and Its Reflections in Modern Interpretation,” focuses on the exegesis of the Book of Daniel and hermeneutical approaches, with an emphasis on reception history.

His academic foundation includes a Master of Arts in Religion with a concentration in Biblical Studies from Andrews University, USA (2021), and a Master of Religious Studies from the National University of Ostroh Academy, Ukraine (2019). He also holds bachelor’s degrees in Theology (2016) and Religious Studies (2017) from the Ukrainian Institute of Arts and Sciences. Additionally, he served as a pastor in Ukraine for five years.
